The Beijing central axis has a grand scale, a balanced and symmetrical planning pattern, and an orderly urban landscape. It is an outstanding example of the development of the central axis of traditional Chinese capital cities to a mature stage, and also the most complete existing architectural complex of the central axis of traditional Chinese capital cities.
